     This Workplace Code of Conduct (“Code”) establishes the principles and expectations for professional conduct and ethical behaviour for all employees of Tigra Karate International (TKI).  By adhering to this Code, we foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment that aligns with our core values and organisational objectives.

    1. Scope and applicability

    This Code applies to all employees of Tigra Karate International (TKI) regardless of their position or location.

    Contractors and temporary staff are also expected to adhere to this Code while working for or on behalf of the company.

    We value diversity and are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all employees feel valued and respected.

    Harassment, discrimination, or any form of bullying will not be tolerated.

    5. Integrity and ethics

    Employees must act with integrity and uphold the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions.

    This includes avoiding conflicts of interest and acting in the best interests of the company.

    6. Dress code

    Employees are expected to dress in a manner that is appropriate for their role and the work environment.

    7. Technology and social media usage

    Company technology and social media should be used responsibly and in accordance with company policies.

    Confidential information must not be shared online or through social media platforms.

    8. Health and safety

    Employees must comply with all health and safety regulations and report any hazards or unsafe conditions.

    A commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment is the responsibility of every employee.

    9. Conflict resolution

    Any workplace conflicts should be resolved in a professional and respectful manner.

    Employees are encouraged to seek the assistance of their supervisor or HR if needed.

    10. Reporting mechanisms

    Employees are encouraged to report any unethical behaviour or violations of this Code.

    Tigra Karate International (TKI) is committed to protecting the anonymity and safety of those who report misconduct.

    By adhering to this Code, employees contribute to the success and reputation of Tigra Karate International (TKI).  Failure to comply with this Code may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

      

 

  • Code of Conduct - Children and Young People

    Taking part in our club, we would like you to: -

    The Essentials

    Keep yourself safe by listening to your coach, behaving responsibly and speak out when something is not right

    When you are with us, stay in the places where you are supposed to, don’t wander off or leave without telling your Sensei

    Take care of our equipment and premises as if they were your own

    Make it to practice or sessions on time and if you are running later, let someone know

    Bring the right kit to practice

    Not smoke or consume alcohol on our premises or during practice, competition or when representing us

    Behaviour

    Respect and celebrate difference in our club and do not discriminate against anyone else on the grounds of gender, race, sexual orientation or ability

    Report any incidents of bullying, including homophobia and transphobia to a member of staff, even if you are just a witness

    Treat other young people with respect and appreciate that everyone has a different level of skill and talent

    Make our club a welcoming and friendly place to be

    Support and encourage your team mates. Tell them when they have done well and be there for them when they are struggling

    Respect the coaches, Senseis and staff and young participants from other teams

    Be a good sport, celebrate when we win and be gracious when we lose

    Play by the rules and have fun

    As a young person taking part, we understand you have the right to:-

    Enjoy the time you spend with us and know that you are safe

    Be told who you can talk to if something is not right

    Be listened to

    Be involved and contribute towards decision within the club

    Be respected by us and other team members and be treated fairly

    Feel welcomed, valued and not judged based on your race, gender, sexuality or ability

    Be encouraged and develop skills with our help

    Be looked after if there is an accident or injury and have your parents/carer informed if needed

    We expect all young people to follow the behaviours and requests set out in this code, if any young person behaves in a way which contradicts any of the points set out above, we will address the problem straight away with parents/carers involvement and aim to resolve the issue.

    Continued issues and repeated breaches of this code may result in us regrettably asking you to leave the club permanently, for the welfare of other young people and our staff. This is something we never want to do.

    TKI Code of Conduct for Parents

    As a parent or carer of a child taking part in our club, we would like you to:-

    The Essentials

    Make sure your child has the right kit for the session as well as enough food and drink

    Try to make sure your child arrives to sessions on time and is picked up promptly” or let us know if you are running alter or if your child is going home with someone else

    Complete all consent, contact and medical forms and update us straight away if anything changes

    Make sure your child wears any protective kit we provide for them

    Maintain a good relationship with your child’s coach and catch up with them as much as you can about your child’s development

    Talk to us if you have any concerns about any part of your child’s involvement, we want to hear from you

    Behaviour

    Try and learn about your child’s sport and what it means to them

    Take the time to talk to your child about what you both want to achieve through sport

    Remember that children get a wide range of benefits from participating in sport, like making friends, getting exercise and developing skills and discipline. It is not all about winning or losing

    Listen when your child says they don’t want to do something

    Behave positively on the sideline– shout encouragement, say “well done’ and let your children know you are proud of what they are doing

    Think about how the way you react and behave affects not just your child but other children also.

    Lead by example when it comes to positive behaviour on the sidelines: or let other parents take their cues from you, as well as from us.

    Accept the official’s judgment and do not enter the matted area

    Use social media responsibly when talking about what goes on at our club, by behaving in the same way online as you would in person

    Talk to your child about embracing good etiquette and sportsmanship

    Encourage your child to play by the rules

    Ensure that your child understands their code of conduct.  As a parent, we understand you have the right to:-

    Be assured that your child is safeguarded during their time with us

    See any of our policies and procedures at any time

    Know who the welfare officer responsible for your child is and have their contact details

    Be involved and contribute towards decision within the club or activity

    Know what training and qualifications our staff have

    Be informed of problems or concerns relating to your child

    Know what happens if there is an accident or injury, be informed if your child is injured and see records of any accidents

    Have your consent sought for anything outside of our initial consent form, such as permission to go on trips or photography

    Have any concerns about any aspect of your child’s welfare listened to and responded to

    We expect all parents and carers with PR to follow the behaviours and requests set out in this code. If any parent behaves in a way which contradicts any of the points set out above; we will address the problem straight away with the parent and aim to resolve the issue.

    Persistent concerns or breaches may result in parents being asked not to attend competitions if their attendance is considered a risk to the welfare and enjoyment of young participants.

    Continued issues and repeated breaches of this code may result in us regrettably asking your child to leave the club permanently, something we never want to do.

    Code of Conduct for TKI Karate Instructors and Sports Coaches

    TKI Coaches and volunteers involved in sport for young people have a great opportunity to be a positive role model and help build an individual’s confidence.

    COACHES/VOLUNTEERS ARE EXPECTED TO:-

    Ensure the safety of all children by careful supervision, proper pre- planning of coaching sessions, using safe methods at all times.

    Consider the wellbeing and safety of participants before the development of performance.

    Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

    Treat all young people equally and ensure they feel valued.

    Have no favourites.

    Encourage all children not to discriminate on the grounds of religious beliefs, race, gender, social classes or lack of ability.

    Not allow any rough or dangerous play, bullying, or the use of bad language or inappropriate behaviour.

    Appreciate the efforts of all young people and not over-train the young people. Never exert undue influence over performers to obtain personal benefit or reward.

    Be positive, approachable and offer praise to promote the objectives of the club at all times.

    Not let any allegations of abuse of any kind to go unchallenged or unrecorded. Incidents and accidents to be recorded in the club incident/accident book. Parents will be informed.

    Report accidents or incidents of alleged abuse or poor practice to the designated person.

    Administer minor first aid in the presence of others and where required refer more serious incidents to the club’s First Aider.

    Have access to telephone for immediate contact to emergency services if required.

    Foster teamwork to ensure the safety of youth members in their care.

    Ensure the rights and responsibilities of youth members are enforced.

    Report suspected abuse to the appropriate designated officer for safeguarding children.

    Not abuse members physically, emotionally or sexually.

    Maintain confidentiality about sensitive information. Please note the reporting of information relating to safeguarding a young person through your organisations reporting procedures would not be a breach of confidentiality.

    Respect and listen to the opinions of young people.

    Take time to explain coaching techniques to ensure they are clearly understood.

    Develop an appropriate working relationship with participants, based on mutual trust and respect.

    Ensure they maintain healthy, positive and professional relationships with all athletes. Coaches and others in positions of authority and trust in relation to athletes aged 16 and 17 years must not engage in sexual relationships with them while that unequal power relationship exists

    Be a role model, displaying consistently high standard of behaviour and appearance  (disciplined/committed/timekeeping), remember children learn by example.

    Refrain from smoking and consumption of alcohol during club activities or coaching sessions.

    Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibited substances.

    Protect themselves from false accusation:

    Not spending excessive amounts of time alone with children away from others

    Never taking children to their home

    Not administering First Aid involving the removing of children’s clothing unless in the presence of others

    Hold appropriate valid qualifications and insurance cover.

    A coach or other club officer should not accept any club member under the age of 18 as a friend on their own personal social media site, or share their own site details with them. Unless that coach is related to that particular child at the club. Problems can arise when coaches and other people in a position of responsibility at a club accept children as “friends” on their own personal social networking site.

    It is important for coaches to ensure that their interactions and communications with young members in real life and via social media reflects their role and position of responsibility for that young person.

    Coaches should lock down access to their social media site to ensure that only their accepted “friends” have access to their photos and information.

    Coaches should only use electronic based communications to share sport/activity/club-related information with young members and avoid personal, non-sport messages/photographs/videos or banter.

    Make the sport/activity fun.

    Electronic communication may include, texting, Facebook, Twitter etc.

    COACHES/VOLUNTEERS HAVE A RIGHT TO:

    Access on-going training and information on all aspects of leading/managing activities for youths, particularly on Safeguarding.

    Support in the reporting of suspected abuse.

    Access to professional support services.

    Fair and equitable treatment by the governing body/club.

    Be protected from abuse by children/youths, other adult members and parents.

    Not to be left vulnerable when working with children.

    Any misdemeanours and general misbehaviour will be dealt with immediately and reported verbally to the designated person. Persistent breach of the code will result in dismissal from the club/sport.

    Dismissals can be appealed by the coach/volunteer with final decisions taken by the club committee

    EQUALITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION POLICY 2024

    Statement of Policy

    We are committed to creating an inclusive culture that values diversity and promotes respect and understanding. We will not tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment, and we will work to ensure that our training is accessible to everyone over the age of seven years who wants to participate.”

    We will endeavour to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that everyone can receive the highest standard of training. For those with unique physical and mental health needs, such as neurodiversity, we have instructors and coaches with experience adapting training accordingly.

    We will also strive to maintain good safeguarding standards. We will endeavour to empower all members, parents and carers to make informed decisions when selecting us as a club.

    Everyone would be most welcome to visit the dojo, and we can discuss these adaptations. If we can assist by giving a member or their child a high standard of training by making such adaptations, then we will do so without hesitation. Not only that, but should anyone decide to join us, they are encouraged to provide confidential feedback after each session so that we find out just how we are doing and to consider other options where appropriate.

    If, following a visit, both parties feel that we cannot help because it would be unsafe or unsuitable, we will guide the person to our colleagues at SCOPE (www.scope.org.uk), who can offer routes and signposting to alternative opportunities.

     

    Our policy’s purpose.

    This policy’s purpose is to:

    1. Provide equality, fairness and respect for all in our academy.
    2. Not unlawfully discriminate because of the Equality Act 2010 protected characteristics of:
    • age
    • disability
    • gender reassignment
    • marriage and civil partnership
    • pregnancy and maternity
    • race (including colour, nationality, and ethnic or national origin)
    • religion or belief
    • sex
    • sexual orientation
    1. Oppose and avoid all forms of unlawful discrimination. This includes in:
    • dealing with grievances and discipline
    • dismissal
    • requests for flexible training
    • selection for training or other developmental opportunities

     

    Our commitments

    Tigra Karate International (TKI) commits to the following:

    1. Encourage equality, diversity and inclusion in the dojo as they are good practice and make sense.
    2. Create a training environment free of bullying, harassment, victimisation and unlawful discrimination, promoting dignity and respect for all, and where all members' individual differences and contributions are recognised and valued. This commitment includes training members and, where appropriate, parents/guardians about their rights and responsibilities under the equality, diversity and inclusion policy. Responsibilities include instructors/coaches conducting themselves to help Tigra Karate International (TKI) provide equal opportunities in training and prevent bullying, harassment, victimisation and unlawful discrimination.

              All members should understand they can be held liable for bullying, harassment, victimisation and                unlawful discrimination during their training against fellow members and the public.

    1. Take seriously complaints of bullying, harassment, victimisation and unlawful discrimination by members, parents/guardians, visitors, the public, and others during Tigra Karate International (TKI)’s training activities.

            Such acts will be dealt with as misconduct under Tigra Karate International (TKI)’s grievance and                  disciplinary procedures, and appropriate action will be taken. Particularly serious complaints could                 amount to gross misconduct and lead to dismissal from membership.

             Further, sexual harassment may amount to both a membership rights matter and a criminal matter,                such as sexual assault allegations. In addition, harassment under the Protection from Harassment                  Act 1997 – which is not limited to circumstances where harassment relates to a protected                              characteristic – is a criminal offence.

    1. Make opportunities for training, development and progress available to all members, who will be helped and encouraged to develop their full potential so their talents and resources can be fully utilised to maximise the efficiency of Tigra Karate International (TKI).
    2. Review training practices and procedures when necessary to ensure fairness and update them and the policy to take account of changes in the law.
    3. Monitor the make-up of the membership regarding information such as age, sex, ethnic background, sexual orientation, religion or belief, and disability in encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion and in meeting the aims and commitments set out in the equality, diversity and inclusion policy.

             Monitoring will also include assessing how the equality, diversity and inclusion policy, and any                       supporting action plan, are working in practice, reviewing them annually, and considering and taking             action to address any issues.
